1. "My Road to Ironman" was made to track my journey from being a regular triathlete to an Ironman triathlete. The training was different... I have never worked so hard to cross a finish line. I trained at 3am and I trained at 11pm. I worked out multiple times a day while also working as a 3rd grade teacher. It was a long road and it was at times very hard to travel alone. This blog made me feel like I could share the journey with others.
2. For now, I feel like I am done with triathlon and I'm moving towards other goals. In a race on April 14th, 2018, I was wearing a blue "KALE" shirt with a birthday cake crown and as I neared the finish line, a woman yelled out "QUEEN KALE!!!!!!" I smiled and thought, "Hey, I think I like that name!" Ever since that race, the name has stuck. I now have the shirt in three colors and have ordered a custom visor from a small shop on Etsy with the words "Queen Kale" embroidered on it. I will be sure to post pictures!
3. By not training for Ironman, or any other triathlon, I started to run out of things to blog about. This was originally my training journal, but by re-branding to "Queen Kale" I feel like it opens up a whole new world of topics. In many ways, this blog has become my journal of life. As a triathlon blog I felt limited on what I could share but now I feel like I can talk about anything.
Over time I may start removing triathlon tabs and replacing them with other things I find interesting or helpful to others. The URL will stay the same because I don't want to pay for a forwarding address yet. I'm excited to be able to share more of my world and not be limited to training blogs. I hope you will stick with me through this change. My whole world is in the process of changing, and I couldn't be more excited about it!
